Bringing a cat home

Go slower than feels necessary. It pays off.

• Start in one quiet room with food, water, a litter box, and a hiding spot.
• One litter box per cat, plus one extra.
• Introduce other pets slowly, over days or weeks, not hours.
• Let the cat approach you first.
